Bridging Academic Rigor and Divine Articulation: TarteeleQuran Partners with Penn State University’s MGSO

Tajweed Mastery Course

We are thrilled to officially share the massive success of our recent academic collaboration! In April 2026, TarteeleQuran.com partnered with the Muslim Graduate Student Organization (MGSO) at The Pennsylvania State University to deliver an intensive, high-level Tajweed Mastery Course.

Designed specifically for graduate students, researchers, and academic minds, this extensive course was personally led and presented by our CEO, Sanaullah Kiani. The seminar series combined the rigorous structural clarity of university-level phonetics with the centuries-old traditional science of Quranic recitation.

Course Structural Composition & Academic Weighting

Spanning over 2 months and encompassing 10 hours of intensive learning and active training, this wasn’t just a basic recitation class. The course was engineered as an advanced academic exploration of Quranic phonetics.

Students dove deep into a carefully weighted syllabus across three core levels:

TAJWEED MASTERY COURSE

Module I: Foundations

  • 17 Makhaarij Points
  • 5 Anatomical Sound Zones

Module II: Characteristics

  • Sifaat (Phonetic Traits)
  • Consonant Relationships

Module III: Advanced Logic

  • Aqwa al-Sababayn Hierarchy
  • Maqtu’ & Mawsul Junctions

Module I: Foundational Mechanics– Mapping the 17 distinct Makhaarij (articulation points) across the 5 anatomical zones of sound production. Students analyzed why the tongue (Al-Lisan) represents the most complex variable in the Arabic phonetic system.

Module II: Traits & Relationships– A deep physiological analysis of Sifaat (permanent phonetic traits like Hams, Jahr, and Qalqalah) and how consonants physically interact during recitation.

Module III: Structural Logic & Precedence Theory– Mastering the advanced linguistic rules of the Hafs riwayah, including structural junctions, Maqtu’ & Mawsul, and the Aqwa al-Sababayn hierarchy used to resolve conflicts between competing lengthening rules.

Exemplary Student Participation & Certificate Issuance

The level of commitment from the Penn State graduate cohort was truly exemplary. Balancing demanding graduate research, teaching assistant duties, and rigorous academic schedules, these students brought a unique analytical perspective to the science of Tajweed.

Every single lecture witnessed exceptional student engagement, dynamic Q&A sessions on linguistic mechanics, and hours of practical articulation practice.

To honor this dedication, formal academic Certificates of Participation were issued upon the completion of the 10-module cycle. These verified certificates—co-signed by TarteeleQuran and recognized via the collaboration framework —serve as a testament to the students’ hard work and mastery of foundational and advanced Tajweed principles.

Spotlight on Excellence:

“In recognition of dedication, commitment, and active engagement in extensive course of 2 months & 10 hours of Learning and Mastering the principles of Qur’anic Tajweed. Your enthusiasm for seeking knowledge and striving for excellence is truly appreciated and commendable.” > — Excerpt from the official TarteeleQuran & Penn State MGSO Certificate.

To brilliant minds like Ikram Mezghani, who consistently pushed the standard of excellence throughout the workshop —congratulations on earning your certification!
